One of the highlights is for the kids to make a field trip to the Kingston Station. Volunteers of the Friends of Kingston Station greet and host a dual program goal consisting of three parts for the visiting camp kids.
1. Learn about the history of the station and railroading.
2. Learn about railroad safety with a presentation by a certified Operation Lifesaver ® presenter from RIOL.
3. Watch Regional Amtrak trains make station stops, and witness the high speed Acela trains speed past.
Each summer the Transportation Camp kids
come to the Rhode Island Railroad Museum at Kingston Station for a
visit with our volunteers to learn about railroad history and safety
around tracks and trains.
